The following list has been put together from issues that our clients were having before getting a spiritual space clearing done. Negative energy in a house can cause so many diverse issues in every area of your life, so I have grouped them into nine groups.
At the bottom I have listed two spiritual energy complaints which are just totally bizarre and unexplained… If you are keen to know then you can skip right to the end!
You don’t need all of these energy nasties to have a spiritual energy problem in your house. Any one of them can mean your home-life is fairly unpleasant and generally speaking, the more issues from the list you have, the more intense the energy is in your space.
Physical Symptoms
- You can feel a heaviness on your chest, a tightness in your neck and back and a knot in your stomach.
- Feeling weak and exhausted are common complaints and people mostly feel like this without knowing why.
- Being run-down and sick often, with minor illnesses and headaches can be a sign that your body is not able to relax and heal naturally in your space.
- Accidents or clumsiness can be commonplace in a bad-energy home, such as minor knocks and bumps that come about due to a lapse in concentration or coordination.
- Sudden health issues can give the impression that your body always seems to be in fight-or-flight mode.
Emotional Signs
- You can feel tense, anxious and stressed in your home, it may be in just one room or area or it may be in the entire house.
- An unexplained sadness can come and go unexpectedly. The same with being irritable, you can be fine one minute, then the next you are angry about something minor.
- Being restless, especially when trying to relax with quiet time or before bed. It’s almost as if some invisible force is impeding your attempts to chill-out.

- You can feel disconnected from your life, like someone else is living it and you are just a passenger and doing things that don’t support your well-being and best interests.
- Negative thoughts can bother you often and stick around too long, sometimes depressing and other times angry thoughts.

- A sixth sense tells you that something is not right, but you can’t explain it in words, it is a feeling
- You can feel like you are being watched or that there is a presence in a certain room and yet you can’t see anything.

- Money doesn’t seem to stay easily in a home with toxic energy, it comes and then quickly leaves again. You can feel that you working so hard but only just breaking-even.
- If you are selling a home with bad energy, you won’t get the interest that you want and not at the price that you want either.
- Career-wise you can be passed over for promotion, stuck in a job for many years and not getting the acknowledgment that you desire.
Communications & Family Signs of Bad Energy
- With bad energy in a home, arguments and disagreements can come from nowhere and are all too common. They are usually over small things, which get blown out of all proportion.
- This creates bad relationships in your life, which can also lead to general problems in communication with friends, family and co-workers. What you want to say is simple, but the words get jumbled and are poorly received.
- Negative energy in a house will also make criticism and complaints commonplace and put people on the defensive, which further exasperates the communication issues.
- Life can become awkward when people are not getting-on well, with very little said. Like the atmosphere is tense and there is a total lack of harmony.
- It also leads to people avoiding each other in the house, and it can feel like a hotel more than a home.
Subtle Signs & Not-So Subtle Signs in Your House
- Doors slamming and kitchen closet doors can be open when you’re sure you closed them.
- Lights being on in the house, after you turned them off and items disappearing or breaking without reason.
- Mirrors can hold and hide negative energy and you’ll know this by how you feel around the mirror and whether you look into it regularly, you may find you avoid it completely.
- Unexplained noises coming from the house, such as floorboards creaking or noises from the attic.
- Bad smells or stale odors in certain parts of the home, especially utility rooms, out-houses and closets.
- Light-bulbs burning out even thuogh they’re new and electronic-equipment being temperamental can mean chaotic energy in the house.
- Leaky pipes, intermittant problems with the water and heating system can all point toward an unwelcome energy in the space.
- Stale air or a heavy atmosphere in parts of the home or even a room that is always cold despite being well heated can all be signs of toxic, noxious energy in a house.
Pets, Guests & Plants Noticing Negative Energy
- Animals avoiding rooms or certain spaces can mean negative energy, as they can sense it and most will avoid it.
- The same with house-guests, just like everyone else they can sense bad energetic spaces and will avoid them, even if they are not consciously aware they are doing it.
- Plants can struggle or even die in areas containing negative energies, as their life force is drained. Trees will even grow away from toxic spaces, you can see this in an older tree by the shape of its trunk.
- Pests are drawn to negative energy as some species are unaffected by the negativity. Look out for ants, mice and cockroaches – they are tell-tale-signs of negatively charged energy.
Sleep Issue Symptoms
- People in the house can avoid bed-time, children will have a whole range of excuses for not going to bed in their bedroom at their bedtime.
- Partners can struggle to sleep together in a room affected by poor energetics, usually one will retire to the spare-room or couch in the middle of the night.
- Bad dreams, nightmares or night-terrors are very frequent and can affect anyone in a toxic space.
- On waking you still feel tired, often more tired than when you went to sleep, this is a classic sign of negative energy in a space.
- Fitful sleep or a night where you keep waking, your body just can’t seem to find peace or rest.
Saving The Best Symptoms for Last!! The Unexplained…
The weirdest symptom I’ve ever seen of negative energy in a home actually happened to us about a year ago. I was cooking breakfast when the glass lid of the saucepan next to me just spontaneous shattered. I stood staring at it for a while, thinking “what the…”
There was another symptom I experienced and that was almost ten years ago now. I was performing an energy clearing on a client in their house, when they were bizarrely pulled towards the backdoor.
